"Patients suitable for home hemodialysis need to be told that survival in center is worse than survival with breast or prostate cancer and that reports are beginning to appear that more frequent short daily or long nightly dialysis may provide survival similar to that with a deceased donor transplant. We must ensure that bundling and other changes from CMS do not discourage these treatments. Patients who have experienced more frequent dialysis almost all would never go back to three times a week dialysis, as their physicians can confirm."
